· The Section 8 program issued
18 vouchers since January 1, 2008 and 15 applicants leased up for the first time.
· The Section 8 wait list was opened in May 2008 and the BHA received 100 applications.
· Section 8 did not have to perform a SEMAP review in 2008 due to being a High Performer
in 2007.
· Section 8 landlords continue to have a very positive rapport with
the Program staff and have the highest degree of satisfaction with the Program operation in many years.
· Section 8 continues to have very positive audits with no comments, questions or concerns from the auditors on the program files or
finances for the third consecutive year.
· Staff attended many relevant training
sessions with a focus on continuous program improvement and implementation of learning a very high priority.
· BHA continued to work towards its comprehensive property and personnel risk management program.
· BHA continues to be recognized for the efforts of its staff in staying at the leading edge of change in public housing management
and operation.
Goal: Fully implement an asset management model for each property.
Redevelop and maintain
· This year saw the departure of long time Maintenance staff member,
Randy Frechette.
We thank Randy for his years of service to BHA.
· We want to
extend our deep appreciation to David Dearborn, Bobby Mundell and Todd Russell for the work they did this year while short staffed
for almost the entire year. They demonstrated a commitment to their work, our residents and the agency which deserves our recognition
and thanks.
· Considerable continuous improvement was achieved in
turnover, vacancy, rent collections and resident retention.
· BHA utilized additional outside contractors for snow removal, apartment turnover set up and cleaning.
