These developments are active, vibrant neighborhoods with Resident Associations that play varying roles in the neighborhood. The BHA Property Manager and AmeriCorps Member gave each neighborhood a lot of support and assistance in carrying out and initiating programs this year.

We very much appreciate the dedicated leadership shown in each Association by the President and Officers.  New leadership has been elected in the Developments and we look forward to working with them in the coming year. They, along with their neighbors, carry out many activities and care deeply about each person in the community. We are fortunate to have such strong and vibrant neighborhoods!

The Melrose Diner had a successful year. This congregate meal is the primary aspect of the Housing and Supportive Services Program we were able to retain, much to the relief of its 15 faithful lunch goers!  We would like to recognize Pat Akeley, Wes Carrier and Bev Mackin and the many others who make the program possible for their on-going contributions to keeping the Diner the lunch place to be! With the addition of Anna Duca to the front office, we are pleased to now have her as our HASS Coordinator

For the eighth consecutive year, the BHA sponsored the Brattleboro Summer Food Service Program (BSFSP). The program operated at 11 sites and provided meals for over 500 youth.  The BSFSP is a collage of area organizations and individuals, all working together to provide nutritious meals to low-income youth and to provide enrichment and prevention activities.

We thank the numerous volunteers who consistently and with great care worked at these sites and with our youth. Special appreciation goes to Maureen Daylor and Meg Kluge for their unflagging work on this important program.

Brattleboro Housing Opportunities Incorporated (BHOI) serves as the fiscal agent for funding of youth enrichment activities and programs in conjunction with the Summer Food Program.

BHOI had a quiet year in development activities as the Hayes Court development as evolved. It is expected to be more active as the new plans are brought along.

In our HUD funded programs, we are closely regulated, inspected and monitored by the Department. There are comprehensive assessments and on-site inspection programs that look closely and critically at every aspect of the operation. The numerous reviews we are subjected to often affect our residents either through on site inspections of their apartments or by completing surveys. We appreciate the participation and patience of our residents with all these “systems”.
